Today we learned how to diagram subjects and predicates. We diagrammed the subject and predicate of 20 sentences. Please see me for the sentences.
Then, we logged onto SpringBoard. If you do not already have a username, be sure to go online and sign up. If you have any trouble, I can help you before school, or a peer could show you how to do it at your convenience. My class codes are as follows:
Block One: HRLGBA
Block Two: ROTMCA
Block Four: TNWYLJ
Following our log in, we took the assessment quizzes for activities 2.2-2.3 and 2.4-2.8. There are two quizzes in total. The first quiz is four questions and the second is 8 questions. If you were absent, you may take this on your own, but if you have any questions, please feel free to meet with me during my tutoring Thursdays at 8:00am or see me before or after class.
FOR HOMEWORK:

Today we learned about SOAPSTone. We analyzed various texts for their subject, occasion, audience, purpose, speaker, and tone.
For Homework:
Block One: I sent a field trip permission slip home for my homeroom students. Please be sure you complete this, have your parents sign it, and bring it back to me. You cannot go on the trip without this form!
Blocks Two and Four: If you did not finish SOAPSTone and claim for an article about our class's topic, then you need to finish it for homework. If you did not complete diagramming sentences for subject, predicate, and direct object, you need to do so.

Good morning! I know I said the argumentative essay is due today, but it is important that I allow students time to ask me questions regarding a formal grade. Also, peer review is a requirement of the embedded assessments. As such, we will allow one day (Wednesday) to work in class and ask any questions you may have. In addition, you will be doing a peer review on Thursday. So, your essay will not be due until the end of class on Thursday. You will upload your assignment onto google classroom, like we did with the expository. I hope you have all enjoyed your snow days! :-)

Peer review and final edits:
PUCS Read over once for each: punctuation, usage, capitalization, and spelling
Your peer review focused on variety of sentence structure (compound, complex, and simple). Remember, we do this with purpose, not just randomly. Use your peer's review to alter any repetitious sentence structure. Then see where you can use simple sentences for emphasis, and compound or complex sentences for explanation.
