Today we completed SpringBoard activity 3.8 about theme. We did question 2 and the Writing Prompt where we chose one theme and analyzed how the author developed it using imagery, figurative language, tone, etc.
Honors: The extension is on Maya Aneglou's "Still I Rise." You can find it on my google classroom. We TPCASTTed the poem together and discussed the themes found, as well as used textual evidence to "prove" our ideas of theme in the poem.
By Thursday you need to have read through page 112 in Tangerine.

March 1: Early Release
Today we reviewed the paragraph we wrote on theme from SpringBoard. Then we researched a side for a class debate hosted tomorrow, Wednesday regarding reassignment. Since Paul must move from Lake Windsor Downs Middle to Tangerine Middle, the CMS reassignment issue is a way of connecting your life to the novel we are reading.
Be sure you have completed your debate sheet and are prepared for the debate tomorrow.

Today we looked at motifs in Tangerine. We came up with a class list and explored a couple from the list. We then wrote a literary analysis paragraph with a partner about how one motif in Tangerine is developed and what it symbolizes. Remember, textual evidence is key here. Don't just state that eyesight is a motif, prove it. And don't just state that it symbolizes knowing the truth, prove it.
Homework: If you and your partner did not finish your paragraph, be sure to do so. Read through page 199 by Monday.
